ABOUT WASHED
Social location is the composition of individual uniqueness. Psychology behind this theory describes how social mobility can shift or evolve over a life span based on many factors. Some theorists believe social location is assigned at birth, and its evolution continues during a lifetime, sometimes influencing positively with the potential to shift in a manner which disadvantages the individual or community. This series is a visual representation of identity ebb and flow, what’s revealed, hidden, or suppressed and the timing behind each. Washed is also a personal statement and exploration of Lisa’s preliminary experiences reclaiming identity during travels to her mother’s home country of Mexico.
